Reuben Vandeventer joins the podcast from Bloomington, Indiana to discuss digital assets (think databases, not crypto) in depth. Mr. Vandeventer has an extensive background in applying data science to solve finance problems. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur (currently the founder and CEO of SecondSight), Reuben ran quantitative research at CNO Financial and was the Chief Data Officer at Bridgewater. We discuss the need to update accounting standards to reflect digital assets to better understand a business and provide additional access to financing. Reuben also enlightens us on how digital assets can impact M&A due diligence. Cyber insurance pricing, especially as it relates to digital assets is also a discussion point.

For more
than 15 years, Mr. Vandeventer has been driving innovation in data
and analytics, with a particular focus in finance and data
science. He’s currently serving as the CEO and Founder of
SecondSight.ai, and the managing partner of a research fund
d2.ai. Mr. Vandeventer founded and exited multiple companies,
including OpenINSIGHTS and Data Clairvoyance Group. In the latter
role, he was deeply involved in the creation of Allstate’s
Drivewise telematics program for car insurance and helped build the
carrier’s in-house data and analytics practice.
Mr. Vandeventer’s background also includes multiple corporate
leadership roles (Chief Data Officer) for some of the world’s top
financial services and life sciences organizations. The throughline

intangible nature the rest of the world applies — which enables
growth in competitive industry verticals. An MBA and alumni of
Indiana University, Mr Vandeventer also holds black belt Six Sigma
and PMP certifications, as well as an FMVA (financial modeling and
valuation analyst) certification and other advanced credentials. He
is an avid writer and commentator, keynote speaker, and TED Talk
